WHY I CHOSE JOGA

STORY

I have been a coach working with recreational, university and professional athletes for over 10 years. As an athlete myself I always looked to what I admired in my own coaches and tried to emulate that in my coaching mission.

I started out mainly with hockey dry-land and basketball conditioning with a focus on encouraging these athletes to work on movements specific to mobility, core strength and stability.
Along with this, when I work with my athletes my mission is to create a mental connection with them, while challenging their mindset both on and off the court/field etc. When I learned about JOGA, I instantly feel in love and wanted to learn how I could incorporate this training into my own practice and my athletes.

I love how JOGA works both on the neurological, and muscular level with an athlete. There is something so special about when a posture/movement clicks for an athlete and they feel the impact of it during practice. Each session with my athletes focuses on mindset first and foremost. How will we get the most out of this session, where do we need to go to be a better athlete, what internal challenges might be holding us back and how to we overcome those through the movements, breath and meditation. Pairing that with the JOGA movements results in a more confident athlete producing better results and reducing injuries, which is ultimately my JOGA mission as a coach.
