WHY I CHOSE JOGA

MY JOGA
STORY

As a doctor of physical therapy, my goal first and foremost is to reduce my clients’ risk of injury. Many of my clients are high-performing athletes, and while they like to do yoga because they think it is good for them, they often get frustrated if they can’t achieve the postures, or hurt themselves trying to force themselves to do them. What I love about JOGA is that it helps athletes learn body awareness and the ranges of motion that their bodies are currently capable of, and the progressions help them build the pre-requisite strength and control to be able to safely increase their ranges of motion. JOGA has been a great addition to my arsenal of recovery tools that I use for my athletes!

I also love the science behind using breath to control the autonomic nervous system. This is pivotal in any sport, where activation of the sympathetic nervous system is required but also needs to be controlled in order for the athlete to maintain focus and peak performance.
